Study in green and salmon(?) on blue

While my roses are starting to bloom at home, this desert flower still allures. I like the colour contrast. Cropping with Picasa plus "I'm feeling lucky." From the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. 180mm, f4.8, 1/1250 sec., ISO 400, 3:50 pm. RAW.Posted by Picasa

Hey, thanks for the heads up re: Ali. How'd you know his exam was today/tomorrow? I wrote him another quick note on his blog. You figure he's still checking it?

Lovely shot. I love that you identified that colour as salmon. It reminds me of a very dark point in Vancouver Canucks history, during the mid-90s, when they designed a third jersey in that colour. Eeww. Looks good on the flower, not so much on the hockey players. The blue background is awesome in this photo.

Really great shot! Perfect DOF, wonderful tones.

My oldest son is stationed in Arizona, I am looking forward to going out there later this year to see him. I haven't been there since I was about 14.

BTW...I answered your question about the film etc. in my comments on my blog.

I REALLY like this one. The flower is a very interesting shape and the colors are soft. I like the blurred blue background. It works perfectly.

Beautifully isolated subject and you've managed to capture all the textures of the plant- the petals look so velvety.
