Roses from my garden

Just a few roses cut from my garden a few years ago. I go for the fragrant kind and that often means old roses that are not in the modern hybrid tea shape. Posted by Picasa

That's a cool photo, Fraser. Pardon my ignorance, but how did you get that cool effect (Photoshop I presume)?

TB,
Too busy to play around with Photoshop. Just a quick and dirty postprocess with Picasa. This was a very casual shot -- on the table in the back porch. Obviously a lot of detracting things around so I just vignetted to focus on the flowers.

Nice DOF! I really like the contrast between the delicate bright rose petals and the hard stainless steel tea pot they're in. Cool shot!

Thanks, Dave. (It's pewter.) I love a coffee pot as a vase.

Beautiful flowers. Works really well for what you describe as a very casual shot.

Thanks, Robert. It is great seeing an expat blog. I lived in Asia for years before the Internet caught on (I actually did a strange email thing, but very few people stateside had email), so your expat ruminations have additional fascination for me.
