Dutch Belted or Belted Galloway?

I am no expert on cattle and have never seen any with stripes. Lots of blacks and browns in solids and patches, but never a striped or belted one. This is one of a pair I discovered a few miles outside of my village here in Michigan. After a net search, I found that a few such breeds exist. Certainly not fine photography, but I would be curious how many have seen belted cattle previously (and where.)

Yeah I seen similar looking breeds of cattle in the highlands around coastal regions of Aotearoa. In thinking I have'nt really seen them in the lowlands? Perhaps the breed is adaptly suited to grazing higher terrain?

Wikipedia shows a picture of cattle similar to the one in your picture: Belted Galloway

I've never seen one with a stripe or belt like that or as fuzzy as this one is either.

Fraser- We have a farm just up the road from us with cattle that look a lot like this. I'll try to take a photo. I have no idea what they are but they remind me of Oreo cookies! :-)

Ha! Funny looking thing. I've never seen anything like it. Looks almost like it has a blanket wrapped around its middle.
